Ella Brown of Bentonia, Mississippi
Ella Brown was known as "Weed" in her hometown of Bentonia, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Stephen & Eliza Johnson. Ella was a very good seamstress and cook. She could make a dress from looking at a picture of it and didn't need a pattern to follow. She had eight sisters and brothers: Luke, Harvey, Frank, Daniel, Clydie (sister), Edney (sister), Stephen, and Jerry, known as "Pipe." Ella was the wife of Frank Ross and mother of three children: Eliza (Tea), Buddy, and Minnie.
