Somewhere in France Dec. 12, 1918

Dear Chas.

I am beginning to get reckless nowadays writing to every one at will as we tell all about everything. Yesterday I rec'd your letter and also Mama's enclosing pictures of the house and of Laura and Emily on the porch. It sure did make me homesick and yet happy to see home once more even if it was over here that I saw it. All the boys got letters and they are all complaining that their people haven't rec'd their mail in quite awhile. Xmas coupons m issing etc. I have rec'd your mail regularly and I hope you get mine eventually. About three weeks ago I spent a few days in a hospital near here (Semur) having a touch of Diarrhea. that I tho't should be taken care of. I got out in about 5 days and it was a treat really to sleep between sheets once more and with pajamas on. It must have been some "bully beef" that gave it to me as I had just completed a trip from the front after peace was declared. I am OK no one now (sic) and feeling dandy. I am lucky to escape the big war with such a simple illness. Ralph and I are now together and he is feeling fine. We are sporting 6 mos. service stripes and look real nifty. To tell you the truth I wasnt going to mention the hospital as I was there so short a time but tho't you wouldn't worry now as it is over. Tell Mama I am not in Germany was near Sedan before the war ended so you can see I saw something. I am wild to get home and tell you about it all but I can wait as the hard part of it all is over. It is a gay party now with the bright side all before us. Rumor has it that we wont be long in this country. Hurrah! for same Rumor I hope he is true for once. Save a big rooster for my dinner and Emily's buns, Lauras macaroni with lots of cheese. Hurrah! Well Chas old boy love and remembrances to you all. Keep well and dont worry about me for I am a lively boy but not much fatter.

Cliff
