Schelling, Richard, US Air Force

Richard Arlen Schelling was born 17 July 1931, the son of Owen Leslie and Ruby (Magers) Schelling. This clipping about his completing pre-flight pilot training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antoinio, Texas, was found in the Albert-Mable Schelling Bible, The Holy Bible, Authorized or King James Version (Philadelphia: The John C. Winston Co., n.d.). The bible is inscribed, "Presented to Mrs. A. Schelling by Mr.& Mrs. Kenneth Layman, date: 1939." The clipping apparently is from a Marion, Indiana, newspaper and probably dates from the early 1950s. Albert and Mable (Blair) Schelling were Richard Schelling's paternal grandparents.
