Glenn, James A., Confederate Soldier, 6th Mississippi Cavalry

James Adolphus (Dolph) Glenn was born in Mississippi September 6, 1846. He was the son of William H. Glenn (October 20, 1817-May 20, 1903) and Elizabeth Montgomery Glenn (October 6, 1816-December 29, 1906), both born in South Carolina. James enlisted in the 6th Mississippi Cavalry in November 1863 under Captain C. A. Johnson and Colonel Isham Harrison. The 6th saw action in Alabama and Mississippi, and consolidated with the 8th Mississippi Cavalry in February 1865. The regiment surrendered May 4, 1865, and James was paroled on May 12. James married Dora Hogan November 19, 1874, in Starkville, Mississippi. He died in 1941.
